Wayne County Public Library remembers 9/11

This weekend is the tenth anniversary of one of the greatest tragedies in the history of our nation, and Wayne County Public Library is taking part in commemorating the lives lost and the moments of heroism displayed in the wake of these terrible events.

September 11-17 has been designated as First Responders Appreciation Week. Everyone is welcome to come by the library and sign one of the special commemorative greeting card that will be sent our first responders in the community, to express our gratitude for their service and bravery.

The library has also chosen several books which detail the events of that day and how they affected our nation.  It’s a great resource for discussing the significance of the events with those too young to have remembered when it happened,  and for gaining new understanding on the repercussions of the terrorist attacks.

Wayne County Public Library always offers great resources for learning about history and current events, and this week offers an ideal opportunity to inspire examination and discussion of September 11th, 2011–a day we’ll never forget.  It’s an ideal time to take advantage of the library’s offerings.
